Continuing an exciting year which has seen the release of her first EP, “In My Room,” and her headlining debut at Santa Barbara’s Center Stage Theater, Becca Solodon has been chosen by award-winning Australian film director Frank Howson for a featured position on the soundtrack for his upcoming film “Remembering Nigel.”

Not only that, but legendary songwriter P.F. Sloan (“Secret Agent Man,” “Eve of Destruction”) has made the generous offer to allow Becca to record his previously unreleased ballad “Ginger Street” for the film and her first full album.

At the young age of 16, Becca battled a rare and aggressive form of cancer that resulted in the amputation of a portion of her left leg. During Becca’s treatment, the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation orchestrated her dream of recording a song in a major Los Angeles studio with some of the music industry’s most influential players, producers and engineers, under the direction of famed West Coast producer Damion “Damizza” Young (Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg).

It was the start to what is becoming one of the music industry’s most remarkable burgeoning careers.

An Australian film festival hall of fame inductee, Howson — who assisted award-winning author/filmmaker J. Marshall Craig with the filming of “An Evening With Becca Solodon” for an early 2009 DVD release — says “Becca is an amazing singer and has such an inspirational story. She’s so young and yet has stared death down and through her intense faith has come through it.”

P.F. Sloan said Becca “is positively inspiring...! I’m honored she found this song to her liking as a message of hope.”

Becca Solodon’s version of “Ginger Street” by P.F. Sloan will be produced by Damizza, who has also called in legendary musician Ronnie King (Tupac, Mariah Carey, Offspring) to contribute. “Remembering Nigel” is scheduled for worldwide release in the first half of 2009. Becca’s debut album will be released, along with the DVD of “An Evening With Becca Solodon,” in the first quarter of 2009. Becca’s “In My Room” will be available for purchase through iTunes in November. “An Evening With Becca Solodon: Behind the Scenes” will be available for free download and has also been posted on YouTube.

My producer Damion Young and I were fortunate enough to be invited to this year’s Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Glenn Annie Golf Course. It was an amazing event and we met so many wonderful people. After the dinner and auction, they always host an “Unplugged” show for songwriters at the Pacifica Suits in Santa Barbara. Last year, I was introduced to an amazing songwriter and jazz performer, Kenny Rankin. This year he introduced me as a new artist and I was able to perform in the show. It was an incredible honor. I sang “Go” with jazz guitar legend Jimmy Stewart backing me up and after that, “Through The Fire” solo on piano. It was an amazing experience.
